The materials that go into the making of composite doors
The very word composite, which is the qualifying half of the word 'composite door', tells us that a composite door is an amalgamation of different types of materials. Based on the different materials that go into its making, composite doors are divided into GRP composite doors, aluminum composite doors, UPVC composite doors, fiberglass composite doors, etc.
GRP composite doors are made of Glass Reinforced Plastic molded skin. The combination of glass and plastic makes GRP highly versatile trade doors. The presence of plastic makes it lightweight, while the presence of glass gives it the gloss necessary for a door. The core of a GRP composite door is strengthened with polyurethane, which has high thermal resistance properties and makes the home energy efficient. Above all, the material is very strong and can withstand the bumps and thrusts from outside forces, and does not get damaged by continuous exposure to sunlight or rain. Every quality of GRP makes it an ideal material for composite doors.
Aluminium composite doors, as the name implies, contain a high percentage of aluminum and may be a single layer, double layer, or triple layer composite door. A single layer aluminium composite door is generally made of a single layer of aluminium sheet, while the double layer has one layer of aluminium and one layer of polyurethane foam. The triple layer one has two layers of galvanized aluminium with one layer of polyurethane foam in between. Aluminium composite doors are ideal as garage doors, office doors, and shop doors. They may be fully made of aluminium composite material or it may have glass in the center with aluminium frame. These trade doors are strong and do not get damaged by the humid weather conditions of the UK.
UPVC composite doors have a high percentage of UPVC material in it and are trade doors that have a good market. These have slightly wider color choices and pattern choices than aluminium composite doors. UPVC composite doors are also trade doors that can withstand all forms of nature's fury like heavy winds, and downpours, and snowfall, and continuous exposure to the sun, and does not lose color or bent or dent by any of these.
The components of fiberglass composite doors are resin and fiberglass. These composite doors, which are very popular trade doors these days, give a high level of aesthetic satisfaction. They do not warp like a wooden door and are quite thermally efficient, keeping the house well insulated. A fiberglass door is quite durable and an occasional cleaning with a mild soap and water is all that a fiberglass composite door also requires, like other composite doors.
