Metal Gear Solid 2: What a Disaster

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is a stealth game that was released in 2001. It occurs 2 years after Metal Gear Solid in the year 2007. The game has 2 parts to it: a Tanker part and Plant part. The brief tanker chapter will playable with Snake; the plant chapter will be playable with Raiden. The game starts with Snake and Otacon working together and are members of Philanthropy (organization that destroys Metal Gears). When there was speculation of another Metal Gear in development, the dynamic duo begins their journey to end Metal Gear. Snake infiltrates the tanker in New York to investigate. As Snake arrives at the tanker, he notices that it is taken over by many Russian troops (led by Sergei Gurlukovich). Realizing that he must finish his mission, Snake encounters Sergei’s daughter Olga. Before knocking Olga unconscious, Snake discovers that Olga is pregnant. After their confrontation, Snake tracks down and takes pictures of Metal Gear Ray (powerful version of Metal Gear). Revolver Ocelot makes an appearance, and he shoots Sergei causing him to die. The menacing villain divulges that he has a new arm, but it alters his behavior because it is Liquid‘s arm. Liquid takes full control of Ocelot’s body, and he escapes with Metal Gear Ray as the tanker sinks to the bottom of the ocean. That concludes the Tanker chapter.

The Plant chapter is next, I am not going to go into detail about it. If anyone really must know what transpires, I would advocate that they play the game. My perception of Metal Gear Solid 2 was that this was the worst in the series. The plot is convoluted, and the characters are insipid. Many critics seemed to enjoy this game, but avid Metal Gear Solid fans (myself included) thought this game was a disaster. The enormous shock to Metal Gear fans was that the protagonist in the game will be Raiden; it will not be Solid Snake. Are you kidding me? This displeased legions of Metal Gear fans throughout the world, and Hideo Kojima received countless hate-mail for doing this.

A Look at the Safety Qualities of Tactical Gear Over Sports Equipment

With tactical gear being the choice of many people with diverse preoccupations such as safaris, tracking, mountain climbing, camping, fishing, hunting and so on, one can but wonder why sports accessories are not enough. At some levels the competition between tactical gear items and sports wear is undeniable as there are voices for and against one or the other. However, a unanimous view tends to favor the safety qualities of tactical gear over sports equipment, since they are first of all designed to ensure the survival of army troops in the harshest of conditions that a sports person is very unlikely to come across.

There are common materials used in both domains, as sportsmen and soldiers equally profit from very advanced technological applications such as the use of insulating layers in the clothes and footwear structure. It is almost unconceivable to start an outdoor adventure without waterproof clothes and boots, and here the main difference between military gear and sports footwear lies in the weight of the items. Army boots follow a rougher design, since the utility purpose is favored over the look, and given the nature of the materials used in the manufacturing, such footwear is often a lot heavier than regular footwear.

Therefore, unless you take a great liking in boots from regular military gear, you could simply choose some lightweight tracking boots that are both comfortable and enduring. The only advantage of military gear here is the use of shock absorbers in the sole structure; nevertheless, sportswear manufacturers also imitate this quality feature for the increased comfort of the wearer. This is relevant for the tendency that stood at the basis of the development of the sports industry. It is true that the needs of the body during extensive effort guide the design concepts, but resistance and physical endurance were first experienced by soldiers, not athletes.

Therefore, we are very much in the right to say that the mainstream influence went from the army towards the sports and not vice versa. One slight disadvantage that many people are sensitive too is represented by the very few colors used in the creation of military gear for safety camouflage purposes. For anyone who'd like more colorful items of equipment, sports shops are the places to visit, not military gear ones. And last but not least, some items could be interchangeable with little difference between the two domains; this is the case with headlights that have been used in the army for quite some time, and were afterwards borrowed by sports items manufacturers.

Fixed Gear Bikes - What Are They and Why Are They Popular?

Some of you may have heard the kid down the street or even seen the young punk on the corner riding around and what looks like a 10 speed bike. However, if you take a closer look, you'll discover that there aren't 10 speeds on that bike. In fact, you'd probably discover that there is just a single speed. That's because these kids undoubtedly took their parents old Schwinn, took off the derailer, put on a fixed-gear or track-bike hub, took off the brakes, slapped on some crazy "mustache" handle bars, rolled up their pants, and rode down to the closes critical mass ride with their new converted fixed gear (OR spent a few hundred bucks to have someone do it for them).

In any regards, fixed gear bikes are all the rage in the hipster population. And it couldn't have come at a better time. With gas prices at an all time high and the need to go "Green", you can't blame the kids for huffing it on 2 wheels for free and no exhaust smoke rather than spending close to hundreds each month just to go a few miles down the road and spew forth fumes for miles (come on admit it - you've driven to places that you totally could have walked to). So if you're new to this fixed gear bike thing and are curious about how it all works, here's a quick breeze through the basics.

HOW A FIXED GEAR BIKE WORKS

It's simple. Fixed gear bikes are exactly that - fixed! Also known as a fixed wheel bicycle, it's basically a bicycle without the ability to coast (coast meaning you stop pedaling but the back hub still spins). The sprocket is screwed directly on to the hub and there is no freewheel mechanism. That means you can't coast on a fixed gear bike. Your feet are always pedaling. As exhausting as this sounds, it does provide you with more efficiency when pedaling.

Most fixed gear bicycles only have one gear ratio. This means there are no additional gears to switch to. Your typical BMX bike is a single speed gear, however, BMX bikes tend to have freewheels (aka you can COAST!).

WHY DID FIXED GEAR BIKES TAKE OFF?

Some say the popularity of fixed gear bikes can be traced back to bike messengers. They've been using fixed / single speed bicycles for years as it helps them get around faster (back to the whole efficiency of movement thing). Bike messengers were also known for being renegades on some level and having a "punk" attitude. This combined with the general popularity of bikes, skateboarding, surfing, and anything else that allows the youth of today to break free of government mandated roads and public transit system and blaze their own trails across the land (and look good doing it too).

WILL THE FIXED GEAR BIKE CRAZY LAST?

Who knows. I honestly hope so because it is a way to cut down on pollutants, spend less on gas, stay in shape, AND make a statement - ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Who could ask for anything more (Toyyyota!).
